I see a lot of users saying compressed air dusting may help – So I’ve now used compressed air to blow thru the vents of the first alert - I’m hoping this does it. Recently I had replaced all the batteries with energizer lithium instead of the Duracell alkaline - I’ve replaced it again now with Duracell alkaline Lucky I was home and also that now you can turn off the alarm < 30 seconds to prevent fire dept. Ring alarm user here - had this system for about a year and it has been good with no smoke false alarms until today out of the blue – false smoke alarm on the 2nd gen First Alert. These alarms are not suitable for safety critical fire monitoring. That is a design issue, not related to location or cleaning or anything else. There is no way that I have no False Alarms with 15 old design First Alert detectors, but now after replacing with the Gen 2 Ring detectors I have experienced over 10 alarms in less than 2 years. There is design issue, both First Alert and Ring are not addressing. This problem has not been solved And contacting First Alert offers no solution. These devices have a design problem and Ring and First Alert are not addressing the problem. I am at the point now of pulling out the 15 alarms and replacing with non-monitored devices. Ring takes a total hands off approach, no support at all, because they are a 3rd party device Ring will not offer any support. Each time I call Ring and First Alert customer support. Each false alarm last from 1-10 seconds, no more. Over the past 2 years I have experienced over 10 false alarms in various locations. I have 15 Gen 2 First Alert alarms installed in my house.
